ABOUT US
We are a group of model engineers that meet at our workshops,
steaming facilities and running track within the landscsaped grounds of the Rugeley Power Station in Staffordshire. Our Society has been
established for 46 years having been formed in 1971 when it was
originally located In Cannock Park before the Society relocated
to the Rugeley Power Station and construction
work on the new track was completed in August 1991.
Since then thanks to the work carried out by dedicated members our
track and facilities were continuously upgraded and improved.
The main interest represented by our Society is the steam and
diesel outline railway
locomotive and steam traction engine, although our members
interests also include stationary engines and other model
engineering projects.
The Rugeley Power Station is now being decommissioned. Our railway is
located within the power station grounds . . and as a result
in September 2017 our society was asked to vacate our site and was no
longer able to operate our miniature steam railway. Since then our
members have enjoyed many visits to other societies, and members have
continued to meet regularly until February 2020 when Corvid
19 arrived.
However . . . the management of Rugeley Power Station have now granted
us a License to allow our members (but not visitors for the time
being) access to our site so that we can operate our railway again.
Currently our members are involved with bringing the site back to a
satisfactory condition and general maintenance using strict social
distancing disciplines and special 'Covid - 19' rules. It is hoped
we will be able to recommence running days on our track in May if
regulations allow. Members can visit our
'PROGRAMME' page for more information.
