ABOUT US
We are a group of model engineers that meet at
our workshops, steaming facilities and running
track within the landscaped grounds of what
used to be Rugeley Power Station in
Staffordshire. Our Society has been
established for 52 years having been formed in
1971. Construction work on a new
track was completed in August
1991. Since then thanks to the
work carried out by dedicated members our
track and facilities have been continuously
upgraded and improved. The main interest
represented by our society is the steam and
diesel outline railway locomotive and steam
traction engine, although our members
interests also include stationary engines,
rolling stock, and other model
engineering projects.
Over the last
35 years our Rugeley
Miniature Railway
* has given countless hours of
pleasure to the local community, visiting
societies, and members. Our society is
recognised as having one of the best
multi-gauge ride-on raised level miniature
railway tracks in the UK.
Following the
granting of access to our facilities by the
site owners in 2021, members have been
involved with installing a new electronic
signalling system as well as bringing the site
back to a satisfactory condition, general
maintenance, and replacing
equipment. Running days have
recommenced. Please visit our
'PROGRAMME'
page for up to date information. The
Rugeley Power Station has now been demolished
and the area is being redeveloped. As we
are located within a secure area, for
the time being visitors can only allowed on
site by prior arrangement.
